For those who need more, there will be three layers: Targeted, Targeted Plus, and Specialist.\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>\"Teachers will notice your needs early and give help straight away, without waiting for a diagnosis.\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>\"You'll have a digital Individual Support Plan that changes as your needs change.\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>\"Schools will have Inclusion Bases with small group support.\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Translation: Everything we've been doing at Sophia since 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<hr>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>But here's the bit they bury in the easy-read version:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>\"We expect some changes will start to happen from now until 2028 and other changes will happen in 2029 and 2030.\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Read that again.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>2028. 2029. 2030.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Students who need support now?<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Wait four years.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<hr>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>The easy-read version is honest in ways the 113-page policy document isn't.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>It tells children:<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>\"Not all schools provide the same support. We want to make this better and more reliable.\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Translation: Your postcode determines whether you get help.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>\"Teachers will look at what you find hard and give help straight away instead of waiting for a doctor's diagnosis.\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Translation: Right now, schools ARE waiting for diagnosis. Leaving students to struggle.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>\"Schools will create an Inclusion Strategy explaining the support they'll give. Ofsted will judge how inclusive schools are.\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Translation: Currently, schools don't have to prove they're inclusive. And Ofsted isn't checking.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<hr>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Why the easy-read version matters:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Because it's written for the people the system is supposed to serve.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>And when you strip away policy language and write for children, <strong>you can't hide the truth.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>The truth is:<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"no-bullets\">\r\n    <li>\u274c Most schools don't intervene early<\/li>\r\n    <li>\u274c Most schools wait for diagnosis before providing support<\/li>\r\n    <li>\u274c Most schools don't have Individual Support Plans<\/li>\r\n    <li>\u274c Most schools don't track whether students feel they belong<\/li>\r\n    <li>\u274c Most schools measure success by top achievers, not students brought up from the bottom<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>And the government is promising to fix this by 2030.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Students can't wait.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<hr>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>At Sophia High School, we already operate the model the easy-read version describes:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"no-bullets\">\r\n    <li>\u2705 Individual Support Plans (digital, updated as needs change)<\/li>\r\n    <li>\u2705 Early intervention without waiting for diagnosis<\/li>\r\n    <li>\u2705 Small classes (6-8 students) where every child is known<\/li>\r\n    <li>\u2705 Flexible support that moves as needs change<\/li>\r\n    <li>\u2705 Teachers trained in inclusive pedagogy<\/li>\r\n    <li>\u2705 Real-time tracking of engagement, belonging, progress<\/li>\r\n    <li>\u2705 Parents see what their child learns every day<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Not in 2030. Now.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<hr>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Our local authority partners commission 70 permanently excluded KS3 students annually.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Students mainstream schools called \"unteachable.\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Every referral shows: needs identified early, no intervention, gap widened, behaviour escalated, exclusion.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Then they arrive at Sophia.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>And we give them exactly what the easy-read White Paper says every student should get.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Same kids.
